This is an authentic Kala Cotton Saree, handwoven by the master weavers of the Vankar community of a village named Bhujodi in the district of Kutch, Gujarat, India The saree is distinguished by its warm Mustard/Termeric Yellow base and intricate extra-weft weaving. This technique involves manually inserting contrasting treads during the weaving process to create the raised geometric patterns seen on the borders and pallu (end piece) representing a 500-year-old tradition of hand weaving.

The fabric is made from Kala Cotton, a resillient, Carbon-neutral, indigenous organic cotton variety native to the arid region of Kutch. It is known for its earthy, slightly coarse texture that softens beautifully with every wash.

This is a beautiful saree featuring distinct design language leaning toward a sophisticated monochrome aesthetic with white thread motifs and Kutchi mirror work (known locally as Abhla) which is a hallmark of the nomadic embroidery styles of Gujarat. Unlike mass-produced garments where mirrors are glued, these are encased in a hand-stitched frame using a “buttonhole” or “chain stitch” technique. This ensures they are securely attached to the fabric.
